Langtang valley trek is a pleasant trip that begins from the lower region of the Langtang valley through small villages, farmlands and lush forests to Kyanjing Gompa. It is one of the most attained treks by the tourists from all over the world. However, tourists walk along the foothills of Langtang-Lirung Ri, which is also the source of Trishuli river. Trekking along the Trishuli Riverside will lead to Lama Hotel, which is considered as the first overnight station. Villages along the trip are mostly of Tibetan origin and tea
houses offer some of the finest Tibetan meals. As we climb uphill from Lama Hotel, Langtang Valley Trekking gets a little tiring because of the gradual increase in altitude. However, the beauty of Langtang valley makes tourists forget the pain of continuously uphill climbing. Langtang valley is situated right below the Langtang-Lirung Mountain and offer calm and placid evenings to gaze at the eternity. Whereas, Kyanjing Gompa is the last destination of Langtang valley trek and is situated at 3740m above sea level. Kyanjing Gompa has airport along with helipad for quick rescue operations in case of emergency. Tourists can climb the Tserko Ri hill and have a panoramic view of Langtang Mountain range.

Overview

Langtang valley is situated in the northern part of Nepal and share a border with Tibet. Langtang Valley Trek is one of the most popular trekking routes of Nepal. It is an easy-to-moderate trek where the altitude rises gradually and reaches up to the maximum of 5050m above sea level if the tourists want to climb the Tserko Ri peak. Langtang valley trek starts from the Syafrubesi, which is situated at 7-8 hours drive from Kathmandu. Langtang valley trekking passes through the dense forest inside the Langtang Conservation Area and among the villages and farmlands giving a glimpse of Tibetan culture throughout. Langtang conservation area is home to various wildlife creatures ranging from endangered species such as Red Panda, Musk deer, Pika and the national bird of Nepal, Danphe.

Accommodation

Langtang Valley Trek has various accommodation options. At Sabrubeshi, tourists can stay in a hotel or lodge. As we begin our trek, tea houses are present at every 6-7 hours walk, which serve Tibetan and typical Nepali meals. Since it is one of the popular trekking destinations, the various food menu is offered by tea houses including continental breakfast, French wine, Italian pizza and etc. The altitude gradually increases as we reach to Kyanjing Gompa. To beat the cold breeze, tea houses are kept warm and smokeless by burning firewood.

Safety tips

Langtang Trekking is an easy-to-moderate Trek and does not demand any prior mountaineering experience. The altitude does not rise abruptly so tourists need not worry much about altitude sickness. It can be attained by anyone who is a nature fanatic and a wanderer.  However, sound mind and physique of tourism matters while we reach Kyanjing Gompa where tourists have an opportunity to reach even higher for the panoramic view of Langtang Mountain ranges.
