The temple was built in the time of the Malla regime in Kathmandu when the goddess Kali appeared in the dream of the King, and he ordered the construction of the temple. Many Hindu pilgrims from all over visit the temple with great belief every Saturday and during the Dashain festival. Animals like male goats and cockerels are sacrificed in large numbers in the goddesses' names.
